Angie has played dumb under the stage name of Angel with her drop-dead gorgeous looks. Freshly divorced from her cheating millionaire ex-husband, she is through with all that and is ready to start a quiet life in a beautiful Italian Villa, an alimony from her ex. But there is one thing that annoys her. Vittorio, the former owner of the estate does not try to hide his disdain for her whom he believes to be a "dumb glamor girl." Disagreeable he may be, she must seek his cooperation to preserve the renowned, "best lemon grove" in Amalfi...
Married Under The Italian Sun Harlequin comics eBook MAYU TAKAYAMA LUCY GORDON Mayu Takayama
Married under the Italian sun is the story of a young rich celebrity named Angela who travels to Italy after she is awarded an estate in Amalfi as part of the divorce settlement. There she meets the hot gardener Vittorio who is also the former owner. Interestingly, the estate makes money off of its lemon orchards and Vittorio who lost the estate in a bad business deal, still loves and cares for the trees. At first Angela tries to get rid of Vittorio finding him a bitter man, but love soon blooms between them. The story is derailed a bit by the arrival of her elderly grandfather who has Alzheimer's and his caregivers Roy and Frank.
*SPOILER ALERT*
This is actually the third Harlequin manga which features the subplot of an elderly parent dying and bringing the two main characters together. Enough already. Death is neither romantic nor entertaining to watch.
END SPOILER
Suspicion abounds in Angela/Vittorio relationship. Is he after her merely to get the estate back?
Overall, I liked Angela/Vittorio as characters. The art was really well done, and I cared about what happened and their relationship. I applauded the gay sub characters Roy and Frank, although it would've been nice to actually see a picture or two of them as they are firmly background characters.
